The Soap and Cream Company
The Soap and Cream Company has evolved from our previous business, The Lavender Man, which offered a highly regarded range of lavender-based products at Farmers’ Markets and craft fairs around London. Among the original products were tablet and liquid soaps regarded by many as among the best they had used. We also developed a skin cream that a number of customers compared favourably with Neal’s Yard products. Some told us that persistent skin conditions had been alleviated or had even disappeared.
The recipes have now been further refined and improved.
- Our soaps are palm oil free.
- Incorporated into the creams are specific active ingredients and rarer oils known to be effective for various skin conditions and types.
- All products are handmade in small batches, and for the most part are made from organic and unrefined oils, the main exception being the olive pomace used in the tablet soap.
- The creams are rich, nourishing and easily absorbed. They have a low ratio of water to oil, which makes a little go a long way
Our Tablet Soap
Even in very hard water areas like North London, where we live, this gives a rich, silky lather.
The bars are not cut off a loaf - so often an uncomfortable and unattractive shape - but are made in individual oval moulds (minimum weight 135 gms) and fit naturally into the hand. The oils and lye are mixed at under 40 degrees C, which preserves more of the nutrients in the oils.
Available in a glorious range of essential oil scents and blends - lavender, rose geranium, cedarwood, eau de cologne and unscented.
They are presented in beautiful handmade tissue paper from Nepal, with handmade embossed gold labels.

Our Liquid soap
This has a wonderfully gentle texture, with the same generous lather as the tablet soap.
It is offered in lavender, pine/citrus and unscented (250ml bottles), and comes in a blue PET bottle with a handmade embossed gold label.
The anti-bacterial option with organic neem oil is available.

Our Creams
The creams are scented with a restrained but ravishing blend of rose, jasmine and neroli essential oils, and come in a blue glass jar with handmade embossed gold label.
- light face and hand cream with camellia and blueberry seed oils,
- anti-wrinkle cream full of active ingredients of proven and lasting effect
- cream for normal skin based on organic virgin coconut and unrefined olive oils
- cream for mature/very dry skin, containing 25% organic cocoa butter and 50% organic macadamia oil
- winter protection cream with pumpkin seed oil - high in zinc - and blackcurrant seed oil, very rich in Vitamin C
With a low water/oil ratio, a little cream goes a long way, giving you even better value for money
